3 Training Drills YOU Need To Go Pro

3 Training Drills YOU Need To Go Pro

Have you ever wondered the feeling of just doing mindless training drills such as dribbling through cones, and always trying to hit the crossbar? Yes, these training drills can help you master the basics and fundamentals of football, but, it doesn't give you the training for real-life situations. It doesn't help you learn what to do when you're alone right beside the touchline getting pressed, it doesn't help you whenever you need your physicality. However, if you do these drills for your academy or school, its completely fine, but if you want to go pro and actually improve faster, you have to do some extra work.

This always impacted my game, I kept doing random drills I found on youtube, thinking I could be the best player my school. Then came the game, I was struggling, I kept losing the ball in 1v1 situations, I kept being in the wrong places at the right time. I also couldn't even find space to have a shot on target. So, now, I will tell you the exact training drills that are necessary for football, and could help you be the best version of yourself in games:

Wall Passing

How to do it:

  1. Stand 2 - 3 meters from the wall.
  2. Pass the ball firmly against the wall and control it using your first touch, then pass again.
  3. Use both your left foot and your right foot for controlling and passing.
  4. Focus on quick clean touches.
  5. Try to complete 50 consecutive passes without losing control. Increase the speed as you improve. Frequency: 10 minutes daily
This drill can heavily influence you passing in a positive way, as trains you to receive passes, pass the ball, and also allows you to take a first touch. Making you more faster and more unpredictable when it comes to a real-life situation. Not only that, this drill also trains your weaker foot, allowing you to be more balanced and more flexible whenever you're in tight situations during an intense game.

Unrestricted Dribbling

How to do it:
    1.  Find an open area in your field.
    2. Now just dribble free-flowingly just how you would do in real-life.
    3. Imagine yourself taking on defenders and cutting inside and to get past them.
    4. Also try to get a few shots in to practice your shooting.
This drill can make your dribbling way better by visualizing yourself in an real game and taking on actual defenders. It allows you to get out of tight situations, and also improves your ball co
ntrol and balance. Furthermore, it also improves your shooting when you come out of these tight situations, allowing you to be unpredictable, making you hard to defend against.

Juggling

How to do it:

  1. Start bouncing the ball using your upper-middle part of your foot (allows you to get the idea of juggling)

  2. When you're confident, try doing juggles with a rhythm using both feet equally.

  3. Gradually try to increase your number of juggles (from 5, 10, 15, 20, 25)

  4. Then, try to do make your juggling style a bit different, such as make some juggles high in the air, some juggles lower, so you can get maximum first touch practice.

Having the ability to juggle is an aspect that divides a pro player from an amateur player. It allows you to train your first touch, allowing you to control the ball and making you very fluid. By having good ball control, it can help you get out of tight situations and also creating the best goalscoring chance for your academy or football team.

Improving your skill doesn’t require fancy gear, just dedication and consistency.
Practice these drills every week, track your progress, and within a month you’ll notice huge gains in confidence and control.
